our Impact

In 2024 Children’s Storehouse served 626 children from 326 families and passed on over 1300 bags of clothes and toys, pairs of shoes, coats, cots, prams, highchairs, safety gates and more.

But those are just numbers - behind every statistic and every referral we receive is a story. A struggling family and children in need of the things that most of us take for granted.

Like the Sudanese family who were referred recently, having fled the fighting in their home country. The children were so amazed to see the toys we passed on that they broke out in celebratory dancing - and our Project Lead was in tears watching them.

Or the young mother who leaves a violent relationship - and has nothing for her baby. Most of these stories can never be told due to confidentiality and safety of our families - but the difference Children’s Storehouse and your donation makes to these children’s lives is very real -thank you!

WHAT WE DO

Children’s Storehouse collects high-quality baby & children’s items — prams, cots, safety gates, toys, clothing, bedding — and gives them free to families in crisis who are referred by health & welfare professionals. In 2024 we supported 626 children from 326 families, distributing a total of over 1,300 items of vital equipment, and bags of clothing and toys.

We also run two “Stay and Play” sessions every week for referred families, where children and their carers can play and interact in a safe and friendly environment - free of charge.

HOW IT WORKS

  • 1.REFERRAL MADE

Families are referred by our network of health and welfare professionals across the city.

  • 2.REFERRAL PROCESSED

The referral is received and processed by our Project Lead. All details remain confidential at all times.

  • 3.ITEMS PACKED

The items requested are picked and packed by our Project Lead and the dedicated Volunteer team.

  • 4.COLLECTION

Once the items are ready, we let the referring professional know, and they arrange collection / delivery for the family in need.
